Nothing spoils a beautiful bangle set faster than a bad fit — too tight and it won't go over your hand, too loose and it slides off. Here is how to find your size at home in two minutes, plus a few tips on choosing the right style.
Understanding bangle sizes
In Pakistan, bangle sizes are written like 2.4, 2.6 or 2.8. The first number is whole inches and the second is sixteenths of an inch, measured across the inside of the bangle. So 2.6 means 2 and 6/16 inches, not 2.6 inches.
| Size | Inner diameter | Usually fits |
|---|---|---|
| 2.2 | about 54 mm | Very slim hands, young girls |
| 2.4 | about 57 mm | Slim to small hands |
| 2.6 | about 60 mm | Average hands — the most common size |
| 2.8 | about 64 mm | Medium to larger hands |
| 2.10 | about 67 mm | Larger hands |
Method 1: Measure a bangle you already own
- Pick a bangle that fits you comfortably.
- Lay it flat and measure straight across the inside edge, from one side to the other, with a ruler.
- Match the millimetres to the table above.
Method 2: Measure your hand
- Bring your thumb and little finger together, as if you are slipping on a bangle.
- Wrap a strip of paper or a measuring tape around the widest part of your hand, across the knuckles.
- Mark where it meets and measure the length in millimetres.
- Divide by 3.14 to get the diameter, then pick the closest size in the table. If you fall between two sizes, choose the bigger one.
Choosing the right style
- Closed bangles (churiyan): classic and great for stacking. Get your size exactly right, as they must slide over your hand.
- Openable bangles and kadas: open with a screw or hinge, so they are easier to wear and kinder to fresh mehndi. A good choice if you are unsure of your size.
- Bracelets: clasp around the wrist and fit almost everyone — perfect for daily and office wear.
Styling tips
- Stacking: combine one statement kada with a few thinner bangles in matching tones.
- Balance: heavy bangles look best with simpler earrings, and vice versa.
- Two wrists: for weddings, wear a full stack on both wrists; for everyday, one wrist is enough.
- Match the metal: keep bangles in the same tone as your earrings and necklace for a polished look.
